The Oberon String Quartet has a wealth of experience in playing at weddings
We understand how stressful it can be to organise your special day and hope that our friendly, helpful approach and familiarity with the course of events at weddings will help to make your day run smoothly. Music can be played at any point during the day but you may find the following information useful as a guide to help you plan your day.
Civil Ceremonies and Church Weddings
It is always relaxing for your guests to listen to some music before the bridal entrance. We find that 15 minutes of music whilst guests are entering the ceremony room or church creates a lovely atmosphere. You may prefer to have 30 minutes of music, the choice is yours.

The quartet is regularly asked to accompany another performer during a wedding ceremony or hymns during a church service. We are more than happy to do this as long as we are given the music in advance or are given enough time to arrange the parts. We have recently accompanied flautists bassoonists, trumpeters and many singers.
Photographs and Reception Drinks
The quartet is very portable and is able to change location with ease. We are used to moving from one room to another and are able to relocate to where the wedding reception drinks are being served and/or the photographs are being taken. We are happy to play outside (weather permitting), but on sunny days we will require a shady area to protect the instruments.
Receiving Line
You may decide to have a receiving line and want the quartet to play whilst it is in progress. Receiving lines can sometimes be quite lengthy so it is worth bearing in mind the amount of time yours may take when it comes to booking the quartet.
During the Meal / Wedding Breakfast
Music throughout the course of the meal is often a great accompaniment to fine food! The length of time you choose to have the quartet playing is up to you. Through experience we have found that the cutting of the cake is often a suitable point for the music to stop and your guests to prepare themselves for the speeches.
During the spring and autumn seasons the Oberon String Quartet regularly
exhibit at wedding fairs, providing an ideal opportunity for clients
to meet and hear us.
